MEMORY THROUGH ART
Memory Through Art is a mentally and socially enriching program for people living with memory loss. Workshops engage inquiry, observation and expressive response in art viewing and making and encourage independent decision-making. Caregivers and family supporters are welcome.

Memory Through Art workshops encourage creative thinking, curiosity and connection to self and others in a group setting. Slow Looking is a key practice in these workshops that invites observation and imagination while viewing a work of art. Affirming and including each response is essential to forming the collaborative narrative that motivates the group toward art making. Participants love this collaborative process which connects them to the group.

Following the collaborative process described above, participants create their own artwork. We use collage, painting, drawing, sewing, printmaking or mixed media. I support or guide participants as needed.
My facilitation approach focuses on the unique, strengths, limitations and preferences of each participant. Independent decision-making matters. Materials and tools are easy to use, engaging – their textures and beauty are inviting.

Workshops meet for 1.5 - 2 hours
